Diesel Fire Pump Systems We Service

Diesel-driven fire pumps use a dedicated diesel engine to drive a centrifugal fire pump, independent of the facility's electrical supply. These systems are governed by NFPA 20 (Standard for the Installation of Stationary Pumps for Fire Protection) and must maintain readiness through regular testing and maintenance. We service diesel engine drivers across a range of fire pump configurations used in industrial, commercial, and municipal fire protection systems.

Fire Pump Problems We Repair

  • Engine fails to start on automatic or manual start signal

  • Engine starts but does not sustain rated RPM under pump load

  • Engine overheats during fire pump testing or operation

  • Fuel system faults — injector wear, contaminated diesel fuel, fuel pump failure

  • Battery and starting system failures preventing reliable auto-start

  • Cooling system failures — heat exchanger clogging, water jacket issues

  • Oil pressure faults triggering automatic shutdown

  • Exhaust system restrictions reducing engine output

  • Control panel or automatic start system faults

  • Engine hours-based wear requiring overhaul to restore rated output

Our Fire Pump Repair Services

Diesel Engine Driver Repair

We perform all levels of repair on the diesel engine that drives the fire pump from targeted fuel system and cooling system repairs to complete engine overhauls when engine condition requires restoration of full power output. Fire pump driver engines must deliver rated horsepower reliably at any moment, and we hold repairs to that standard.

Fuel System Service

Fire pump engines with neglected fuel systems are among the most common failure causes in fire protection systems. We service injectors, injection pumps, fuel tanks, and filters, and assess diesel fuel condition for contamination or degradation.

Cooling System Repair

Fire pump engines rely on jacket water heat exchangers connected to the fire pump discharge water for cooling. We service heat exchangers, thermostats, water pumps, and coolant systems to ensure proper thermal management during extended operation.

Starting System Repair

Reliable auto-start is fundamental to fire pump readiness. We service batteries, battery chargers, starters, and automatic control panel start circuits to ensure the engine fires on demand.

Engine Overhaul for Fire Pump Drivers

When a fire pump driver engine reaches its overhaul interval or experiences major wear, our in-shop engine rebuild capability restores it to the reliable output required for fire protection service.

Brands & Engine Platforms We Service

We service diesel fire pump driver engines from major manufacturers including:

  • Caterpillar, Cummins, John Deere — common industrial fire pump drivers

  • Perkins — widely used in mid-range fire pump sets

  • Isuzu and Kubota — smaller commercial and light industrial fire pump drivers

  • Deutz — air-cooled fire pump drivers in select installations

Industries & Facilities We Serve

  • Oil & Gas facilities and petrochemical plants

  • Industrial manufacturing and warehouse facilities

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

NFPA 25 governs inspection, testing, and maintenance of water-based fire protection systems including diesel fire pumps. Annual service requirements include full-load flow testing, oil and filter changes, battery testing, and cooling system inspection. Monthly no-flow start testing is also required. Consult your AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) for site-specific requirements.

Yes. Fire pump failures are treated as priority service requests. Call (281) 446-1230 and describe the failure we will respond as quickly as possible based on technician availability and your location.
